Activities

Students participating in the band course grow in their skills both in the classroom, but also by performing outside the classroom in concerts, solo and ensemble, and competitive festivals. Students may also elect to switch to an instrument that is needed in our band (bassoon, oboe, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, French horn, trombone, baritone or tuba). Students learn valuable team building skills, setting and meeting short and long term goals, individual responsibility, and many other lifelong lessons. Students who participate in a choir course grow in their singing skills in class, but also have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year in school concerts, community concerts, District and State MSVMA Festival, MSVMA Solo and Ensemble Festival, and the Music in the Parks Competition /Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Students participating in an orchestra course grow in their skills of playing a stringed element both in the classroom, but also by performing outside the classroom in concerts, solo and ensemble festivals and community events. Students may also elect to switch instruments based on orchestral needs (viola, cello, and double bass).
